We relieved the veteran missionary pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, Mexico City, from November 2017 through February 2018, as he took furlough for the first time in seven years. The missionary had overseen the Bible Institute graduation of one of his men, but advised me the newlywed assistant still needed supervision. Judy and I counseled this couple in areas where traditional Mexican culture and attitudes might obstruct their growth in marriage and ministry. I also oversaw soulwinning and outreach efforts among Mexican nationals, advising the missionary about training nationals to obtain genuine conversions. I baptized one convert during this time.
