From July 2016 through August 2017, we relieved veteran missionaries to Cambodia, again swapping houses, safeguarding their possessions and leading Victory Baptist Church in Siem Reap. Evangelism must be deliberate and thorough in Southeast Asia, a part of the world that does not have any tradition of Christian worship. Buddhism has separate definitions for sin, salvation, pardon, punishment and eternal rewards. These must often be “unlearned” if one is to be truly converted unto Christ. Working with my interpreter, and a church deacon, we handed out roughly 5,000 John/Romans booklets and tracts, where the culture anticipates a deliberate, specific invitation to the recipient to take one. I baptized two converts during this time.
